29 Apr 2008 - HFH U15's Players Help in the Community

The Halton Farnworth Hornets U15's players have been busy!

Six of the HFH U15's team players volunteered their own free time to help in the recent Halton Borough Council's Extended Schools 'Sporting Campus' at Peter & Paul's College.

Lead by HFH qualified Coach John Goulding, the six players undertook a morning and afternoon basic rugby coaching session, over the three day Campus period.

Although supervised by John Goulding, the players drafted up their own coaching briefs, with help from Neil Meadows, HFH U15's Head Coach.

In collaboration with other sporting disciplines, the whole three day event was a real success. For the HFH U15's players, they got their first taste of coaching and esteem from participating in helping to encourage juniors to take up a sport.

Community work of the highest accolade.

The photograph below shows the six HFH U15's players showing off their official "Thank You" letters they each received from Elaine Mullen, Extended Schools Development Worker.

Elaine said.......

"Thank you so much for your involvement with the Extended School Campus Activities. Your contribution to the rugby coaching of the younger children made the activity a great experience for all involved.

These activities are held over the school holidays to help children become actively involved with their community and to give them opportunities to further engage with physical activities. The activities help keep children safe and give them positive experiences outside of the school terms. Your contribution helped achieve this.

Youth players like you are a great role model to children in the community as it gives them a young role model to aspire to. The children at the campus benefited from your voluntary work providing fun coaching sessions that motivate more children to become active within their community.

All the children involved in the campus said they really enjoyed it and feedback from parents was very positive.

Once again thank you for your involvement with Extended Schools Campus it is very much appreciated."

Well done to all involved and may there be more of it!
