Archived Match Reports U7's [Sep 2007 To 13 Apr 2008]

30 Sep 07, Halton F H v's Atherton Dragons

This was an outstanding display of rugby by the HFH U7's on their debut game at Wilmere Lane Playing Fields.

All seven players showed great skill and determination which was rewarded with two tries going to Ciaran O'Donnell, who was also voted 'Man of the Match'.

Also inspiring were Daniel Miller and Conor Sherlock, who both earned the 'Most improved' award.
The award of 'Top Tackler' went to Jack Burke.

The signs are there for the team to go from strength to strength with more players waiting in the wing.

07 Oct 07, Halton F H v's Blackbrook Royals

An evenly fought game saw the HFH U7's pipped by two tries on their second outing of the season.

The work was shared well amongst the seven man side with everyone getting plenty of ball-in-hands.

Daniel Miller, scoring for the second week in a row, impressed but nothing could be taken away from Louie Corker who crossed for four tries.

Jack Burke and Ciaran O'Donnell defended well with Billy Glover taking the lead in organising the defences.

Liam Daniels never took a backwards step and Conor Sherlock showed some impressive footwork going forward.

21 Oct 07, Shevington v's Halton F H

The HFH U7`s started this fixture very slowly and found themselves three scores down within the first 10 minutes.

Strong running led to a good try for Louie Corker in the first half.

The Hornets players started to play a lot better in the second half and Conor Sherlock scored with a fine solo effort.

Sam Porter and Danny Burke impressed on their debut.

The `Most Improved` player award went to Taylor Hannon, with the `Top Tackler` award going to Conor Sherlock.

Joe Mason picked up a try and also the `Man of the Match` award and this on his debut game for the HFH U7`s.

Well done to all the players for their efforts.

28 Oct 07, Halton F H v's Burtonwood

Once again the HFH U7's only managed to field an eight man team due to injuries and the holiday period.

A slow start from HFH saw Burtonwood capitalise with a try from an offload in their first set. This stunned the HFH U7`s and gave Burtonwood a massive confidence boost.

Not even an outstanding solo try from Taylor Hannon could lift the HFH team`s confidence and Burtonwood seemed to score at will.

With players coming back from injury and a couple of new faces for next week HFH must put this one aside, and concentrate on next weeks game.

Taylor Hannon - 1 each

04 Nov 07, Halton F H v's Leigh M R

A much improved performance this week by a strengthened HFH U 7`s fielding a full side with subs for the first time this season.

Both teams were evenly matched with the exception of two experienced Leigh youngsters who scored most of the visitors tries.

The whole team showed a marked improvement on previous weeks in both attack and defence. Sam Walters, on debut, led the way with strong running. His combined running and defensive work seemed to rub off on the rest of the team who found a new confidence and showed the skills learnt from the summer school.

Liam Daniels and Danny Burke made good yards along with Louie Corker, Sam Porter and Billy Glover, with Conor Sherlock, Taylor Hannon, Daniel Miller and Ciaran O'Donnell, all having good all round games.

Joe Mason and Sam Walters impressed with both players scoring well taken and deserved solo effort tries.

Well done to all the players for their efforts.

11 Nov 07, Halton F H v's Blackbrook

The final score line certainly didn't reflect the amount of effort put in by all thirteen of the HFH U7's squad.

Once again for the Hornets, both teams were evenly matched with the exception of two of the Blackbrook players, who had an excellent turn of speed.

The score line could have been very different if it wasn't for four last gasp tackles by a good Blackbrook defence, which kept some great Hornets attacks out.

The three Hornets scores were great efforts and well deserved, with Louie Corker crossing for one and Joe Mason two.

Ben Phillips was impressive on his debut day but an outstanding effort by Billy Glover earned him the `Man-of-the-Match` award.
The `Top Tackler` award went to Ciaran O'Donnell with `Most Improved` award going to Joe Mason.

With efforts like this a win can't be far away.

18 Nov 07, Atherton Dragons v's Halton F H

The writing's been on the wall for the last few games and today the HFH U7`s masterminded an outstanding victory. Every one of the twelve players contributed to a fine team effort with every individual showing great improvement on previous weeks.

The Hornets made good yardage with strong running on every set of six and backed that up with a great defensive effort.

Sam Walters defensive efforts of eighteen tackles earned him the `Top Tackler` award.
Sam Porters week on week progress earned him a well deserved `Most Improved` award trophy.
Then for an all round display of good rugby league football, Taylor Hannon took the `Man-of-the-Match` award.

The HFH U7's should be proud of themselves with this victory. They should take this new found confidence into the last three fixtures of 2007, before the Christmas break.

Well done to all the players.

02 Dec 07, Leigh East v's Halton F H

On a day for which the weather conditions put pay to many of the scheduled rugby matches, the HFH U7's travelled to Leigh East, in what turned out to be a most enthralling game of junior rugby league.

In the end, a draw was a fair result for both teams, with both sets of parents thoroughly entertained by the performances on the pitch.

The HFH U7''s made good yards through Billy Glover, Liam Daniels, Jack Burke and Ben Catton, who was on his debut game.

This was backed up with some excellent defence from Ciaran O'Donnell, Taylor Hannon and Conor Sherlock.

Louie Corker's outstanding defensive efforts earned him Top Tackler, whilst the Man of the Match award was shared between Joe Mason and Sam Porter.
